Franklin S. Gordon,son of Essick and Marie Sander Gordon departed this life December 15, 1977 at his home in Wichita after a lengthy illness. Pete, as he was known in the Waterville community attended Midhill School. Franklin married Leona Reid on January 18, 1940. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Roberta, Franklin Jr, Steven, and Luin. The Gordons engaged in farming before moving to Wichita in 1956. Franklin worked at Boeing Aircraft for a number of years. He then was a contract carrier for The Eagle-Beacon newspaper for the past 10 years.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother and one sister. He is survived by his wife Leona of the home; daugther Roberta Kasterke & husband Dwain of Fort Worth, Texas, Frank, Jr and Steven of Wichita, Luin and wife Nancy of Wichita; six grandchildren, Glenda, Jeff and Tim Kasterke; Kandy and Kevin Gordon and Jennifer Gordon. Sisters and brothers include; Esther Christenson, Weaverville, N.C; William Gordon, Waterville; Ruth Gordon, Waterville; Bessie Patterson, Wichita; James Gordon, Grove, OK; Merle Gordon, Wichita; Nellie Graham, Derby; Donald Gordon, Cheney, Ks; Viola Keefover, Manhattan, KS; Marjorie Hagadorn, Hanover; Mary Hess, Derby, KS; Doris Bishop, Blue Rapids and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services were held Monday December 19, 1977 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Casket bearers were; J.E. Leiber, Roy Mann, Luin Larson, Raymond Scheller, Loren Dalrymple, and Frank Johnson.
