Margaret Ann (Daviss) Collett was the daughter of William R. and Nancy Margaret (Philpott) Daviss and the 2nd wife of James Hamilton Collett. Her death was caused by a buggy accident and leaving two daughters Mary and Margaret "Maggie" Collett. The girls lived in the household of their grandparents, Wm. R. & Nancy Margaret (Philpott) Daviss while their father was in the Civil War. Upon his return he married Margaret Ann's sister, Eliza Daviss, and they raised the two girls and had children of their own.
