JOSEPH E. CHAPMAN, blacksmith, Edinburg, born in Edinburg Township, this county, June 17, 1839; son of James and Elizabeth Chapman; the former born in England in 1800, and died April 8, 1871; the latter born in Pennsylvania
in 1811, and died November 9, 1880. They were married in Pennsylvania and moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, thence to this county in 1837, and remained here until their death. Our subject was thrice married, first to
Susanna Grate, November 26, 1863 (she was born in this county 1845, and died April 3, 1864). His second wife, to whom he was married February 28, 1865, was Carrie Patterson (born in Mahoning County, Ohio, Februsry 28, 1847, died
October 29, 1875), and his present wife, whom he married April 26, 1876, was Nettie Heller born in Fostoria, Ohio, September 24, 1848. Mr. Chapman is the father of two children - Mary A. and Embra C. - and resides at Edinburg,
where he owns thirty-two acres of land, on which he and his family reside.
