Thomas Chapman, son of James Chapman and Elizabeth Meyers. This stone is in the middle of the row of Chapman burials. It is flanked by smaller stones, one for Thomas and one for his wife, Mary McKnight, although Mary's small stone is missing.

Thomas P. Chapman, farmer, P.O. Edinburgh, was born in Edinburg Twp, this county, Feb 5, 1837, son of James and Mary E (Inghram) Chapman, the former born in England Jan 15, 1800, came to America in 1829, the later born in Chester Co, Pa., Jan 6, 18ll. They were married Mar 19, 1831, and during he same year they came to Columbiana County, Oh, and in 1834 to Edinburg, this county, where they remained until their death. The father died Apr 8, 1873 the mother Nov 9, 1879. Our subject was married Nov 26, 1863 to Mary M Knight, born in Ellsworth, Mahoning Co., OH. Aug 2, 1844, dau of James and Susan Knight, the former born in Chester County, PA, May 20 1812, and the latter in Ellsworth, Mahoning, June 18, 1818. Mr. and Mrs. Knight first settled in Mahoning County, Oh and thence removed to Ashtabula Co, where they remained some time; then returned to Mahoning where they lived for several years, when they finally settled in this county in April 1865, and here died, Aug 28, 1884 and May 24, 1883, respectively. To Mr.& Mrs. Chapman have been born two children: James W., born June 27 1865, and Lina M., born Sept 6, 1867. Mr. Chapman has been a farmer all his life, and owns forty eight acres of land where he and his family reside. He has been for eighteen years a member of the I.O.O.F.
