Harlan was a son of Adam H. and Martha Sara Fischer Thomas.

He married Ella E. Mazie Eberhardt on April 15, 1951, in Peoria.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

Mr. Thomas was employed by Caterpillar Inc. for 42 years, retiring in 1985 as Manager of International Services in Compensation and Benefits.

He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Republic of Philippine Islands and New Guinea.
