Letter written to Elizabeth on Jan 8, 1864, at a Camp near Dalton, Georgia, includes this poem:
When this you see
Remember me
Though many miles
Apart we be.
Although we can not locate a marriage license, it has been notated in a family bible held by a many great-grandaughter that they were married on Sept 3, 1865. This bible previously owned by William and Orpha Elizabeth's youngest daughter Della Reynolds of Oklahoma, also noted the birth dates of the 9 children.
