Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Goodwill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia.
Mrs. Meeks was born July 17, 1921, in Rockingham County N.C., to the late Early and Lily Huff Williams. She was a member of Pleasantview Baptist Church of Eden, and worked in farming and taking care of her children, home and family for many years.
She was preceded by her husband of 53 years, Sherman F. Meeks, as well as three of her daughters, Sandra Patterson, Mildred Edwards, and Portia Dalton.
She is survived by 10 children, Floyd Meeks of Eden, Curtis Meeks of Morehead Nursing Home in Eden, Joan Meeks of Ridgeway, Va., Alfred Meeks of Stoneville, Carolyn Corum of Reidsville, Deborah Gammon of Eden, Donna Harmon of Eden, Rhonda Tucker of Stoneville, Colleen Baker of Eden, and Tim Meeks, of the home; one brother, Jim Brown, of Eden, and four sisters, Opal Brown of Eden, Carleen Wright of Stayley, Elsie Pruitt of Brian Center in Eden, and Mary Jane "Tootsie" Patterson, also of Eden; 28 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and seven great-great- great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
