She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. Mrs. Crawford was a longtime member of Oakdale Central Baptist Church in Surgoinsville.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Clay Crawford of Odenville, Alabama; her parents, Lloyd & Virgie Carter Gilreath; her brothers, Everette Gilreath, Holly Gilreath & Paul Gilreath; her sisters, Emily Blair, Margie Rutledge & Margaret Wallen along with an infant brother & infant sister.
Martha Jane Crawford is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, who never left her side during her illness, Clay Crawford; her two sons, Charles Howard Crawford & his wife, Pam (Rogersville), Glen Crawford & his wife, Cynthia (Surgoinsville); two daughters, Carolyn Anderson & her husband, Rev. Jerry (Church Hill), Linda McLain & her husband, Lester (Fall Branch); her grandsons, Jonathan Crawford & his wife, Angela (Mobile, Alabama), Brian Anderson & his wife, Robin (Mount Carmel), Ethan Crawford; her granddaughters, Melissa Hamilton & her husband, Jamie (Church Hill), Rachel Tipton & her husband, Jimmy (Church Hill), Jennifer McLain (Fall Branch); a great grandson, Matthew Hamilton; a step great grandson, Benjamin Simpson; two great granddaughters, Afton Tipton & Erin Tipton; a step great granddaughter, Madeline Simpson; her brother, Bob Gilreath & her sister, Ruth Armstrong (both of Surgoinsville) along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Pat Hammond & Pastor Eddie McAmis officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at Oakdale Central Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be Brian Anderson, Jonathan Crawford, Jamie Hamilton, Jimmy Tipton, Ethan Crawford & Glen Crawford. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 on Friday, August 18, 2006.
