ROBERT ANDERSON GILREATH WAS THE SON OF LLOYD AND VIRGINIA MAE CARTER GILREATH.

HE MARRIED GEORGIA WILLIAMS. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH THREE DAUGHTERS: PRISCILLA, RACHEL AND DEBORAH MARIE.

ROBERT ANDERSON GILREATH WAS THE SIBLING OF EVERETTE G, LEONARD, WILLIAM HOLLY, EMILY, MARGIE, RUTH H, C PAUL, MARTHA JANE, BUNA VISTA AND MARGARET LEONORE GILREATH.

SURGOINSVILLE – Bob A. Gilreath, 88, of Carter's Valley Road went home to be with the Lord at sunset on Tuesday (September 30, 2008) at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. He retired from Holliston Mills and was an avid farmer, which was his full-time profession. He was a member of Clay Lodge # 386 F&AM. He attended for many years Oakdale Central Baptist Church and was a member of Cold Springs Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon along with teaching Sunday School. Bob was a loving husband of 62 years, a loving father, a loving grandfather, a loving great-grandfather and a loving brother.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Williams Gilreath; his sisters, Emily Blair, Margie Rutledge, Martha Crawford, Margaret Wallen and an infant sister; his brothers, Everett Gilreath, Holly Gilreath, Paul Gilreath and Leonard Gilreath.

Bob Gilreath is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Priscilla) Smith (Blountville), Mrs. Pat (Rachel) Hammond (Surgoinsville), Mrs. Kyle (Deborah) Falin (Church Hill), his seven grandchildren, Jason Falin, Martha Mowell and her husband, Billy, Jennifer Hammond, Gwen Hammond, Bob Hammond and his wife, Tina, Micah Kegley and her husband, Josh, Jerry Smith and his wife, Melanie; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Elijah, Joseph, Jessee, Jamie and Anna Bella; a sister, Ruth Armstrong (Surgoinsville); along with several nieces and nephews and his special caregivers.

A visitation was held on Thursday (October 2, 2008) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill and at the daughters' residences.

A Masonic service was conducted by Clay Lodge # 386 F&AM at 8 p.m. on Thursday (October 2, 2008) in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral service was conducted on Friday (October 3, 2008) at 1 p.m. at Cold Springs Freewill Baptist Church with his Pastor, Jerry Anderson and his sons-in-law, Pat Hammond and Kyle Falin officiating.

A graveside service followed the funeral service at Oak Dale Church Cemetery with Jerry Smith, Bob Hammond, Jason Falin, Joseph Smith, Zachary Hammond, Jessee Almeria serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews and Homer Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Dale Church Cemetery fund, c/o Carolyn Goodson, 562 Stoney Point Road, Surgoinsville, TN 37873.
