Alan Elliot Brockbank, age 87, died September 7, 1990, while hospitalized, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born August 28, 1903 in Holladay, Utah to Lockwood Howard and Nina Atwood Brockbank. Married Gaylie Rich on June 8, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

A man of vision, ahead of his time. Founder of Home Builder's Association in Utah serving as president its first two years (1942-1943). Charter member of the Home Builder's Institute which later became the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and served as its national president. Later he was honored by being the fifth person to be inducted into NAHB's Housing Hall of Fame. Founder of NAHB's Research Institute and presently director and member of the board of trustees. Member of board of directors of National Association of Real Estate Boards, 1952. Member of executive committee of Community Builders Council of Urban Land Institute for 1953-1955 and reappointed in 1964. Member of Salt Lake City Real Estate Board and served as its chairman, Building and Construction Committee and Highway Committee of Chamber of Commerce. Member of executive committee on Industrial Development and Employment, State of Utah for ten years. Developer and builder of Rose Park, Utah and m any other subdivisions.

Mr. Brockbank served as Utah State Chairman, 1964 Utah Heart Association Fund Drive. Member of the Board of Regents of the University of Utah (1964-1965). Member of the Salt Lake Area Transportation Committee (SLATS).

Active member of the LDS Church all of his life. Served mission to Southern States. Teacher in church organizations and has served in many church capacities. A family man, his family was always most important in his life. Member of the Alta Club and Salt Lake Country Club.

Survived by his wife; son, Grover Rich Brockbank; daughter, Gaylie Anne Morehead; six grandchildren, Gloria Graves, Malinda Melville, Nathan Savage, Anna Savage, Maria Brockbank, and Grover Brian Brockbank; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret McDonald.

Funeral services on Tuesday, September 11th, at 12:30 pm, Parley's 1st Ward Chapel, 2350 East 2100 South where friends may call on Tuesday from 10:30 am until time of services. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery under the direction of Larkin Mortuary. Family suggests donations to: American Heart Association - Utah Affiliate, 645 East 400 South, SLC, UT 84102-2803.
