Harold Leon Grayson of Springdale, Ark., died at 4:28 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was 79.

Grayson was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Picher to William and Verda May (Wilkers) Grayson. He graduated from Commerce High School. He lived in Springdale for the past three years, moving from Rogers, Ark., after living in Miami for 33 years.

He worked for Eagle-Picher Mining for six years then worked for B.F. Goodrich. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Miami.

He married Doris Babst on March 16, 1947, in Miami. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Kenneth Leon Grayson of Miami; one brother, Ralph Grayson of Pryor; three sisters, Opal Price and Phyllis Bruton, both of Commerce, and Thena Weatherby of Miami; five grandchildren, Heath Grayson of Springdale, Brent Grayson of Rogers, Jeremy Grayson of Charleston, W.Va., Matthew Boston of Edmond and Leslie Kemp of Tulsa, and one great-grandson, Jacob Leon Grayson.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don Kirchhoff officiating. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matthew Boston, Heath Grayson, Brent Grayson, Jeremy Grayson, Mike Bruton and Steve Weatherby.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
