William Jennings "Jinks" Grayson as born 13 Feb 1900 in Tyler County, Texas (WWII Reg; census). He was the son of Lewis Grayson and Nancy P. Grayson nee Harris, both natives of Phelps County, MO. In 1900 (census), the family lived in Trinity, Texas. By 1910, the family had moved to Jasper County, MO. William J. Grayson and May Ransdell (nee Wilkinson), both of Cardin, OK, applied for a marriage license on 20 Jun 1922 in Columbus, KS. William and May raised their family in Ottawa County, OK.
William, May, and their two youngest children were in a tornado on 30 Mar 1938. Their son, Jerry Lee, age 1, died in the tornado. William, May, and their youngest daughter, Phyllis, survived, but William suffered serious injuries.
William died on 05 Dec 1965 at his home in Commerce, OK, after a lengthy illness. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Commerce. William had been a resident in Commerce, OK, for 40 years at the time of his death. He had been a zinc miner.
William was survived by his wife, and children, Opal, Harold, Ralph, Betty, Thena, and Phyllis, as well as two brothers, four sisters, 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
