Funeral services for John T. Stokes, 84, will be held Friday (Jul 10, 1953) at 2 p.m. from Gilgal Baptist Church with the Rev. V.W. Allen officiating.
Mr. Stokes died at his home on Duncanville Rt. 2 (known as Stokes, Alabama), Monday (Jul 06, 1953) morning.
He is survived by:
Seven sons,
Irby (Fannie) Stokes of Akron, Al,
Earnest (Viola) Stokes of North Carolina,
Bernard (Lucille) Stokes of Birmingham, Al,
Perry (Rhoda) Stokes of West Virginia,
Clarence (Percilla) Stokes, in the Armed Services
Clifford (Juanitta) Stokes, in the Armed Services
Ralph (Betty) Stokes, in the Armed Services;
Six daughters,
Mrs. Wiltie (John) Hendrix,
Mrs. Maybell (Penn) Hobson,
Mrs. Frances (Clyde) Duncan,
Mrs. Clarice (Willie) Moon, all of Tuscaloosa, and
Mrs. Estelle (Ellis) Johnson, and
Mrs. Myrtle (Dolphus) Duren of Duncanville Rt. 2;
43 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be A.J. Gooder, George Newton, Obed Bradley, Marvin Champion, Gaston Nichols and Asa Bradley.
Interment will be in the Gilgal Cemetery with the Jones and Spigener Funeral Home directing.
