George Washington Hendrix first married Mary Ann Gant on 29 Jan 1865 in Giles County, TN. They would have five children.

After Mary Ann died in July 1875 leaving him with young children to raise, George quickly married Sarah Elizabeth Walker in October of 1875. With her, he would have four more children.
