John Bennett was the son of James and Matilda Hendrix.

He had 10 siblings; William Rily, James V., Caledonia, George Washington, Allen Bethel, Jonas E., Ellen Darsula, Hillard C., Sarah Ann, and Matilda Elizabeth Hendrix.

John married Cornelia Catherine (Hester) Hogan Mar. 3, 1861 and they had at least one child, Annie Laurie Hendrix.

Note that Cornelia had a daughter, Mary L. Hogan, by a previous marriage. This info was found on the 1860 Census for Hammonds Store, Southern Subdivision of Giles County, TN.

John was "Mustered In" to the Union Army, Jan. 19 1864, to the 2nd Mounted Infantry; and, was "Mustered Out", Jan. 27, 1865. His military records indicate that John was sick during most of his service time.

On the 1880 Census for Wayne County, Tennessee, John was in District 2, Wayne County, Tennessee, where his daughter Annie and his parents James and Matilda were living with him. On this census John was listed as being a carpenter and James was listed as being a farmer.

John obtained a marriage license on December 20, 1880 to marry Anna B Dudley; however, the marriage registry indicates that John returned the license on January 18, 1881 stating the following: "I return the within License without being executed this January 18th 1881 John B Hendrix".

John & Anna were finally married on the 3rd of April, 1881, in Wayne County, Tennessee.

John & Anna had 2 daughters;
Maggie E Hendrix, born 13 Aug 1884 in Point Pleasant, New Madrid County, Missouri;
and, Hattie Irene Hendrix, born July 10, 1888 in Hornersville, Dunklin County, Missouri.

John had four (4) of his siblings; Jonas E., Hillard C., Sarah Ann, and Matilda Elizabeth Hendrix, pass thru or live in Hornersville in the late 1890's thru 1920's. Their are several Hendrix descendants living in Dunklin County, Missouri.

John is listed as the father of Hilliard C. Hendrix, who passed in Jonesboro, Craighead County, AR.
