MERIGOLD - A.Z. Vernon Rains, 85, retired farmer and construction worker, died of heart failure Wednesday at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fletcher-Nowell Funeral Home in Cleveland with burial in New Cleveland Cemetery. Mr. Rains, the widower of Dorris Little Rains and husband of Claudine Timmes Rains, also leaves two daughters, Joyce Lane of Tulsa, Okla., and Brenda Harrington of Greenville; two sons, James F. Rains of Pearl and Doyle E. Rains of Brandon; two stepdaughters, Julia Horne of Madison and Rebecca Turnage of Brandon; two sisters, Rachel High of Memphis and Jewel Greenelsh of West Memphis; a brother, Clifton Rains of West Memphis, 13 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
