BROWNSVILLE - Leon Rains, 77, retired merchant, died Monday of heart failure at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brownsville Funeral Home with burial in Brownsville Memorial Gardens.

He was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church, Ed Worsham Masonic Lodge 505 and Woodmen of the World.

Mr. Rains, the husband of Peggy Sills Rains and widower of Clara Dell Rains, also leaves two daughters; a son; two sisters, Rachel High of Memphis and Jewell Grennlish of West Memphis; two brothers, A. Z. Rains of Sunflower, Miss., and Clifford Rains of West Memphis, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Heart Association.
