STEPHEN B. BENSON
Death last evening claimed another of the sturdy old pioneers of the valley in the person of Stephen B. Benson, who passed away at his home at 937 E street, after a short illness.
The deceased had been a resident of the valley the last 58 years, during all of which time his home had been where he passed away. He has always been engaged in the mining business and had a wide acquaintance among the men engaged in that industry. He had been identified with several of the famous mining camps of the earlier days of the county. His birthplace was Illinois, October 17, 1843, and he accompanied, as a boy, other of the early pioneers overland to California in the early fifties. His age was 68 years.
Mr. Benson leaves a wife, Mrs. Alice Benson, and one son, William Benson.
