Obit Mildred G. Grothe
Mildred G. Grothe died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1992, at Montclair Nursing Center in Omaha at the age of 86. Services were Oct. 24 at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah.
She was born Sept. 30, 1906, in Czechoslovakia to Joseph and Anna (Svoboda) Sedlacek. Her family immigrated to the United States in November 1906. She attended grade school in Pender and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1926.
Feb. 10, 1928, she became the bride of Lloyd Grothe at the Miller Park Presbyterian Church in Omaha. They were the parents of one daughter, Beth. The family lived on a farm in the Tekamah community. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Mrs. Grothe later moved to Omaha, living in the Crown Pointe Retirement Residence for three years before declining health forced her to move to the Montclair Nursing Center in October of 1991.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tekamah and active in the church circles. She was also a member of Magnolia Rebekah Lodge No. 94 of Tekamah.
Her parents, two sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Bob Small of Omaha; sister, Ann Valder of Omaha; sister-in-law, Venice Sedlacek of Loveland, Colo.; nieces and nephews.
Rev. Victor Crawford officiated at the rite. Nadine Tippery was organist, Carol Bacon was vocalist.
Casket bearers were Earl Grothe, Bob Stammer, Daryl Bromm, George Grothe, Irv Deshayes and Rodney Bromm.
Magnolia Rebekah Lodge No. 94 conducted a committal service at Tekamah Cemetery.
