Kay Marlyn Amy, age 75, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the hospital in Watertown.

Kay was born on August 27, 1932 at Summit, SD to Oscar and Frances (Richardt) Christofferson. She attended grade school in rural Summit and then attended Summit High School, graduating in 1951. Kay went on to further her education by attending Northern State Teachers' College in Aberdeen, SD. She received a teaching certificate in 1954 and taught in rural country schools in the area.

On July 27, 1958, Kay married Alvin Amy at Watertown, SD. She worked at several places over the years, among them, Garfield Elementary School and B. Dalton Booksellers. Upon retirement, she was employed at Midcom.

Kay was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling. One of her favorite past times was working in her beautiful garden. Kay had a wonderful sense of humor and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren were so very special to her and nurturing them is what brought her true happiness. Alvin and Kay would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this July 27.

Kay is survived by her husband, Alvin, of Watertown; one son, Kelly, and his wife, Lisa Amy, of Rio Rancho, NM; three daughters: Debra Amy and Lisa Amy both of Watertown, SD, and LeAnne and her husband, Cris Campbell, of Aberdeen, SD; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Revay "Chubby" and Berneil.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Watertown. Rev. Stephen Lauricella will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kay's grandchildren: Chris Amy, James Amy, Robert Amy, William Campbell, and Kate Campbell.

Active pallbearers will be: Darwin Stromseth, Mark Stromseth, Larry Aker, Roger Christofferson, Kevin Christofferson, and Keith Christofferson.
