Sallie was born in Kentucky daughter of Lewis Wireman and Viney Oliver and the granddaughter of Fielding "Uncle Pea" and Sally (Sizemore) Wireman and James "Jim" and Polly (Shepherd) Oliver. She married Dock Hale. Their children are; Bridie (Hale) Shepherd, Arnold Hale, Bessie (Hale) Huff, Polly (Hale) Wireman, Donald Hale, Ollie Hale, Paul Francis Hale, Willard Hale and Dock Hale Jr.
