Services were held Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Klawitter Funeral Home in Nelson for Mrs. Claus Shipley, who died in Brodstone Memorial in Superior on Monday of last week. The Rev. Russell Wayland of the Oak Community Church officiated, and interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
Verna Grace Shipley was born at Hopkins, Mo., Dec.12, 1884, and died at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Feb. 14, 1966, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 2 days.
She came to Nuckolls County in 1887 and lived in the Oak vicinity until a year ago when she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson.
On March 25, 1908, she was united in marriage to Claus Shipley who preceded her in death. To this marriage two children were born.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Leverle Shipley of Nelson; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Schaefer of Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, Claude Adams of Oak and Gail Adams of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Amy Adams of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Roy Snyder of Eugene, Ore.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
