A lingering illness ended the life of one of Oak's senior citizens with the death of Claus Sihpley (sic) at the Lincoln General Hospital on December 10, 1965 at the age of 81 years and 12 days.
He was born November 28, 1884 at Atlanta, Ill. He was the second child of Andy and Sadie Shipley. He came to Nebraska at the age of six months with his parents. He spent most of his life in Nuckolls County. He joined the U.B. Church when a small boy. He was married to Grace Adams on March 23, 1908 (sic), and to this union two children were born, Leverle of Nelson, and Gladys Schaefer of Lincoln.
His father, mother, four brothers, and one sister have preceeded (sic) in death. He leaves to mourn his death, his loving wife, Grace, his son and daughter, one sister Opal Kinnison of Akron, Colo., five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, in addition to nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Monday, December 13, at the Klawitter Funeral Chapel in Nelson with Rev. Russell Wayland officiating and interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Jim Buresh, Ernest Buresh, Rex Sykes, Jack Gillan, Harry Snyder and Alfred Swanstrom.
