Letter written by Hattie Adams, New Castle, Colo., dated Oct. 31, 1904, to her half-sister Susie Adams Schuessler in Johnson County, Iowa:
Dear Sister Susie,
I received your letter a long time ago and indeed pleased to hear from you. Mamma rec. your letter also.
We are having beautiful weather out here the days are so pretty and warm except in the morning and evening. The nights are cold I think.
About nine miles from here there is snow on the mountains & they raise the finest fruit out here all kinds and the fruit is so delicious. The vegetables are so sweet and brittle. I think it is on the account of irrigation that makes them so nice.
Eggs are 25 cents per dozen they have been that way for a long time.
Have you heard from Zad? lately? I wrote him a long time ago but have received any answer. He said that he was going to get married but I think he was just simply fooling. Has he wrote you anything about his future wife.
Did you go to the world Fair?
Father's funeral expenses were about $50. We are so lonely without him he did look so natural.
Why don't Maggie write or does she think one in the family is sufficient to write.
I would like to see Glen & Marvin I know they are sweet children. How old is Glen?
I must close. love to all. Good night.
