Parents: James Nesbit Adams & Rebecca Bothell Adams
Siblings: Edwin Campbell Adams, George Sherron (Sher) Adams, Milton Parks Adams, Lorenzo Row Adams, and Susan Charlotte Adams Schuessler.
His mother died in 1877 & father remarried to Emma Davis Abbott, & then the family moved west to Saline County, Kansas. He had 2 half-siblings: Arthur & Hattie Adams, and a step-brother Frederick Abbott. At age 9 Arthur was dragged to his death when his foot caught in the stirrup while riding a pony on the Kansas prairie. Hattie died in Colorado at age 18 of typhoid fever.
Jim and his brothers Ed, Milt, & Lo went west to California and Arizona to live out their lives. Sher and Susie lived in Johnson County, Iowa; Sher was a farmer & Susie married a prosperous farmer, Stephen Schuessler. Jim & Ed were miners. Jim lived in Bisbee, AZ, Ed lived in San Simon & later Douglas, AZ. Milt lived in San Diego area & Lo is known as a pioneer of the Imperial Valley in CA.
Jim wrote many postcard to his sister in Iowa and according to several he was married to girl named Lora for a time, but was otherwise single for most of his life. He died in Cochise County Hospital.
