Frank M. Bast, 83, Springfield Road, died at 5:30 a.m. today in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis where he had been a patient for the past six weeks.
Mr. Bast was a farmer in Fort Russell Township.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1890, in Fort Russell Township, a son of the late Philip and Johanna Wich Bast.
Surviving are a brother, Edward Bast of Edwardsville, and sisters Mrs. Kenneth (Marie) Fischer of Edwardsville, Mrs. Louise Agles of Edwardsville and Mrs. Lena Dollard of St. Louis, Mo.
Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Bast was a member of World War I Barracks 977 of Edwardsville and of Edwardsville Lodge 1561, Loyal Order of the Moose.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was a past president of the St. Boniface Cemetery Board.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lesley Marks Funeral Home. Veterans organizations will assemble at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and there will be a scripture service there at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Maul officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.
