Benton Darby Browning, 75, Athens, died Thursday at his residence.

Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Sardis Springs Baptist Church with Tim Keenum, Jack Wood and Calvin Inman officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Browning was born August 12, 1920 in Limestone County where he lived most of his life. He was a member and deacon of the Sardis Springs Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Annie I. Browning of Athens; three sons, Donnie Browning of Fayetteville, and Ray Browning and Lamar Browning, both of Athens; one daughter, Shirley Dilworth of Athens; one brother, Arthur Browning of St. Petersburg, FL; three sisters, Virgie Hargrove of Huntsville, Juanita Casteel of Athens and Ruthie Simmons of St. Mary's Ga.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
