OBITUARY
The infirmities of old age brought death to John Gaines, 94, at his home at Wells on Sunday, August 23, at 5 pm.
Born December 24, 1858, the child of Christian and Katherine Gaines at Juno County, Wisconsin, he came to Minnesota at the age of 4 years.
He was married to Sarah Ferguson on November 9, 1887 at Wells and they made their home on a farm east of Wells until retirement, then moving into town.
Funeral services were held at 9 am at St. Casimir Church on Wednesday, August 26, with the Rev. Peter Fafinski officiating.
Pall bearers were Val Yokiel, Leo Staloch, John Pyzick, Francis Segar, George Wanzek and Victor Hansen.
Interment was in St. Casimir Cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John F. (Ida) Staloch and one son, Marvin J Gaines of Minneapolis, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Passer and Mrs. Matilda Kirschner; and three brothers, Alfred and Henry of Wells and Rev. William Gaines of Big Stone, SD
Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Heitner Funeral Home.
