"Catherine Mae Pine.
Graveside funeral services for Catherine (*) Mae Pine, 82, who died Thursday in a Sacramento hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Christian Service Society Cemetery. The Rev. Nathan McFarland of the Apostolic Gospel Temple here will officiate.
Married July 16, 1900, in Cripple Creek, Colo., Mrs. Pine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, who died in 1960 in Oroville. Mrs. Pine had been a resident of Butte County and Oroville for the past 16 years. She was transferred to the Sacramento hospital last spring. She is survived by four sons, Lorne of Angwin, Lake of Redding, Melvin of South Dakota, and Vernon of Sacramento; three daughters, Mrs. Grayce Ostes of Oroville, Mrs. Elaine Bebee of Helena, Mont., and Mrs. Irene VanClief of Vienna, W. Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Goodlive, and Mrs. Sarah Cook, both of Palo Alto; 30 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
*Note1 spelling of first name differs on marker and in obituary.
SOURCE: Durham Cemetery (c) 1994 by Adriana Farley and Marilyn Corley.
*Note2 Aunt Kittie always spelled her name with a "K"
I have letters from her with it spelled with "K" as well as official documents such as her last son, Vernon's birth certificate. She might spell her name Kathryn on occasion but always with the "K".
Note3 a son "Melvin of South Dakota" is listed. I don't know who wrote the obit but of Aunt Kittie's 12 children none were named Melvin. I knew all of them and will be listing them as fast as possible. Star niece to Kittie Pine.
