Charles Gentry Pine was my father’s best friend when they were young. They were the same age. Gentry having been born just a few weeks before Dad. I don’t know how they met but Dad knew Aunt Kittie, Gentry’s mother, first from what I remember being told.

When Gentry was just past his 20s he went to Palo Alto, California to see our Aunt Frankie and Aunt Madge. He remained there until his death 29 March 1924.

Gentry had a trick knee which would go out from under him on occasion. He was in Mayfield, a suburb of Palo Alto, when he stepped off the sidewalk and his knee went out from under him dropping him in front of a car or truck killing him.

I believe he was buried at Alta Mesa but haven’t found out for sure. However that is where most our family was/are buried to this day.
