Mom was first married on June 22, 1907 to William Elbert Crandell father of Lucy and Mildred. He was born May 1, 1877 in Emminence, Missouri.

Mom said he was a muscian and could play most any instrument. She never had a bad word for anyone but said the marriage was not meant to be, so she divorced him after 11 years.

In 1922 She and my father, Charles Rolland Cook met and married on July 22, 1922 in San Jose, California. Shortly after in September they moved to Utah where they lived for a couple years then started for California via a trip to see Aunt Kittie Pine who lived in Forney, Idaho at the time.

Unfortunately they got snowed in for the winter.
Dad took jobs of various types to tide them over but on one of them was injured by a wild horse that crippled him for the next 16-1/2 years. In 1938 My dog (Puppy with sharp teeth at the time) found a nerve under his big toe when playing with him which enabled doctors to finally help him regain some mobility but told him to move to Arizona as he needed a warmer and dryer climate for his health.

In 1939 we started for Arizona stopping in Price Utah to visit my sisters Lucy and Mildred. Finding Lucy quite ill it was decided she and her 4 children Benny, Marjorie Ann, Billy, Georgie Naillon were to go to Arizona with us.
Continuing on we stopped in Palo Alto California on the way to visit Mom's 3 sisters, Aunt Kittie Pine, Aunt Frankie Goodlive and Aunt Madge Treagle.

During the two weeks we were there, Dad and my sister Lucy made so much improvement health-wise it was decided we would stay. If either ceased improving or got worse we could always then move on to Arizona but fortunately both made a complete recovery.

By January 1940 Dad had improved to the point he went to work in San Jose, California for Singer Sewing Machine Company. Working there and in Palo Alto until her retired in 1959. He had also been employed by Singer in Idaho and retired with a total of 40 years.

They bought a ranch in Sunnyvale-Santa Clara area and Mom then raised and sold every type fowl, rabbits, guinea pigs and other live stock for a living. Even though Dad's health continued to improve to the degree he was able to return to work in January 1940 Mom continued with the raising and selling of livestock of every type.

In 1953 they bought a house in East Palo Alto where they lived until they came to live with me in 1967 in Palo Alto.

Mom and Dad were happily married for 54 years 5 months and 19 days when Dad passed away on January 10, 1977.

We continued to live in Palo Alto until 1989 when we moved to Osburn, Idaho. Had I known Mom had such a short time I would have stayed in California as her last month was too cold for her. She never complained but I know she was not comfortable and it would have been better in California. Hind sight is always so great, isn't it?

We moved to Silverton just before Halloween and Mom passed away there exactly one month to the day after we left California on November 9th 1989.
