Every Friday we would gather at one of the sisters homes to play pinocle . Every Sunday after church one of us kids got to go with Aunt Frankie for the Sunday drive. Every summer we would all gather at one of the parks and camp for the summer. Those that had to work would commute back and forth between our camp. Now that I am an adult I imagine it was a chore for the 4 sisters but they wanted us kids to know each other so of course all of us had a blast and of course were always close. Every Christmas everyone gathered at Aunt Frankie's for the celebration of togetherness at Christmas.
Each of the sisters were so different. Aunt Madge was a practical joker, brave never afraid of anything and so much fun. Aunt Frankie was very loving as each of the sisters were but being a school teacher not into the jokes. Aunt Kittie being the mother of 12 kids was very busy but always had time for us kids. Mom was a very shy person but like the others loving although she never advanced the love but always responded.
Sometime before 1939 Aunt Madge had been in a terrible car wreck. She had been thrown from the car landing face down into one of the poison plants, Ivy or oak not sure which but whichever it was ground deeply in her face scarring it and making it necessary for the rest of her life to paint her face in Calomine Lotion trying to keep the poison ivy/oak from breaking out. Regardless she took it like a trooper never complaining and always in good spirit with every one.
Aunt Madge had 5 children all grown and 3 with children near our age. One of her daughters for one reason or other left her daughter, Margie Ann, with Aunt Madge to raise to adulthood. I'm sure Aunt Madge didn't mind as I also raised my daughter's child and loved every minute of it. Her oldest boy Bud was a practical joker the same as his mother only more so. All us kids called him "Uncle Bubber" and loved him so much as he was also great fun.
When Aunt Madge passed away she only had her daughter Claudia, granddaughter Margie Ann and Francis Lee her baby survive her. Her son John had been murdered while in Los Angeles shortly after we arrived in California, her daughter Lucy May, Margie Ann's mother, had been in a rest home for years but passed away in the 60s as did my sister, Lucy. Bud had a heart attack and been in the hospital for a week. The night he passed Aunt Madge and I had got him home from the hospital and settled down in his room to rest. But that night about 10pm a blood clot broke lose killing him.
Aunt Madge was loved by all of us and will be missed always. May she be in Gods arms till we get to join her and the rest of the family. As all mentioned have gone to be with one another. Mom was the last of the Kelloggs on our branch.
The death certificate will be uploaded as soon as it is in the proper format.
