Dr. L. S. Forbes, 85, retired dentist, died early Sunday of cerebral Hemorrhage after an illness of 5 months. He practiced here for 40 years. He was born Jan. 27, 1863 in St. Louis County, Missouri, son of Charles and Olivia (Emerson) Forbes.
The family moved to Judsonia, Arkansas where he lived until 1886, when he came to Fayette, Iowa to assist Dr. J. M. Dorman.
Two years later, he went to Iowa City to complete a course in dentistry at University of Iowa. He returned to Fayette.
Dr. Forbes married Jessie E. Smith of West Union.
Surviving are two daughters, Odetta at home and Lauretta (Mrs. W. H.) Christensen of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren; brother, E. C. Forbes of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 at Chenoweth Funeral Home, Rev. F. L. Hanscom, pastor of the Little Brown Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Masons in charge.
