Jane Batchelor, daughter of Benjamin Batchelor and Mary Ann White,was born 11 Dec 1833 in South Stoneham, Hampshire, England and christened 5 Jan 1834 in Bishopstoke, Hampshire, England.

She married Henry Phillips Wilde, son of William Wild and Eliza Phillips, 14 Oct 1853 in Bishopstoke. They had 11 children: John Fredrick, Mary Elizabeth, Heber, Sarah Maria, William S., Walter Henry, Emma Matilda, Emanuel,Joseph Thomas, Jane, and Benjamin Charles.

Jane and Henry came to America in 1859 and travelled across the plains by handcart. Jane had to pull the handcart herself most of the way, as well as tend to her 2 young children, since her husband was sick with something similar to dysentary and had to ride in the sick wagon. She was pregnant with her third child Heber at the time, and had him just a few days after arriving the the Salt Lake Valley.

Jane died 5 March 1891 in Coalville, Summit, Utah and was buried there. She was a woman of great faith and determination.
