Florence Marie Cornwell, age 92 of Tazewell, VA went home to be with her savior on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center in Abingdon, VA.
Born September 1, 1930, in the Thompson Valley area of Tazewell, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hallie Robert "Hal" Cornwell and Mary Katherine Dillow Cornwell; brothers, Buck and Bill Cornwell; sisters, Vicie Vanhoozer, Delilah Vanhoozer, and Mamie McClead, daughter, Debbie Barrett; and granddaughter, Maria McCroskey.
Left to cherish her memories are her two sisters, Mary Vanhoozer and Virginia Cornwell, both of Tazewell, VA; three grandchildren, Heather Bowman of Roanoke, VA, Robbie McCroskey of the home, and Michael McCroskey of Bastian, VA; four great-grandchildren, Rylee and Blake Bowman (Heather) and Kaylee and Christian McCroskey (Michael); one great-great-granddaughter Jordynn Hope (Kaylee); special caregiver, Doug Wimmer, and countless friends that she knew as a family in Thompson Valley. There is not enough space in any blank book that could hold the list of those who loved her, were loved (and fed) by her, and those who will miss her so dearly.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lu Miler and the Reverend Dr. Thomas A. Conley officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Heath Harris, Mason Wimmer, Ryder Lowe, Jim Allison, Mike Bennett, and John Blankenship will serve as pallbearers with Ronnie Allison as honorary pallbearer. Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA is honored to serve the family.
