America Delilah Vanhoozer, 90 of Tazewell, VA died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Heritage Hall in Tazewell, VA. Born June 17, 1929 in Tazewell County, VA she was a daughter of the late Hallie Robert and Mary Katherine Dillow Cornwell. Before her failing health, she was active in her church and enjoyed attending to worship and praise her Lord and Savior every Sunday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Albert A. Vanhoozer, Sr.; son, Charlie Vanhoozer; sister, Vicie Vanhoozer; brothers, Albert “Buck” Cornwell, Bill Cornwell, and Daniel Cornwell.
She is survived by her children, Britt Vanhoozer of Pulaski, VA, Preston Vanhoozer and wife, Jeannie, Tom Vanhoozer and wife, Rose Mary, Curt Vanhoozer, and Albert Vanhoozer, Jr., Margaret Vanhoozer, Shirley McGuire, and Mary Ruth Vanhoozer all of Tazewell, VA; sisters, Mamie McClead of Georgia, Florence Cornwell and Mary Richardson both of Tazewell, VA, Virginia Cornwell of Bluefield, WV; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where a celebration of her life will be at 7 PM with Pastor Lawrence Hayes officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11 AM at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Monday for procession.
