Her mother died in 1837, and the following year her father married his late wife's elder sister, Mary Herring (née Hersperger). Thus, Cordelia's step-mother was her maternal aunt.
Cordelia Jane Boyer and George E. Thomas were married on 20 October 1857 in Frederick County. He died on 13 March 1861 (at the age of 36 years, 2 months and 2 days). The couple are not known to have had children.
Cordelia Thomas and Joseph Rhoderick were married in 1866 in Jefferson, Frederick County. (He was a widower, and had one surviving daughter from his first marriage.) Cordelia and Joseph Rhoderick were the parents of three children, and resided in Jefferson.
