Mary Hamilton Rhoderick was the elder daughter of Cordelia Jane (née Boyer) and Joseph Rhoderick. She was known as Hammie.

Mary H. Rhoderick and Thomas E. Williard were married on 9 June 1887 in Jefferson, at the bride's mother's home. "Mr. Williard is engaged in the manufacture of cigars in Jefferson, and his bride is a lady of culture and refinement."

The couple were the parents of three children. By 1910, the Williard family had relocated to Washington, D.C.
