I suspect that John and Edith are divorced before 1930. I have not found Edith in 1930 but believe John was remarried by 1930. Further research is needed on the family I am looking into.
In 1940 Jefferson Co., Texas, Edith is using the surname Stutz, but is "widowed" with 3 renters with the surname Ward. Edith is listed as the wife on the death certificate of Charles Thomas Stutz (spelled Stertz on his headstone FAGM: 76866673), but I have not been able to locate a marriage record. His first wife died 1932 and he died 1936, so I guess they married between 1933-35. Charles is buried by his first wife.
In 1950 Jefferson Co. Texas, Edith is living alone.
Edith is deceased by 1955. Her daughter in law, Mrs. Edgar L. Perry was informant on death certificate.
