H. POTTS FORMER LOCAL MERCHANT DIED SUNDAY
Herbert F. Potts a former Taylorville merchant passed away at his home in Rosamond, Ill at 8:30 A.M., Sept. 11, 1927 after an illness of eight months of paralysis and complications.
He was the son of Nathan C. and Fianna E. (Kemmerer) Potts and was born Dec. 13, 1874 on a farm near Sharpsburg, where he lived until his marriage to Miss Mary Peden who died June 7, 1905. He followed the occupation of farming in Christian county with the exception of three years spent in Missouri until 1911 when he engaged in the grocery business on West Franklin street, Taylorville, Ill., and continuing there for several years, later locating on West Adams street for a short time. Leaving Taylorville a few years ago.
He was married Sept. 12, 1906 to Miss Minnie Gore of Taylorville who survives him. He is survived by the following children and grandchildren: H. L. Potts, manager of the A. and P. store, Taylorville; Merle E. Potts, Pana; Mrs. Addie Cothern, Pana; and Norman C. Potts at home and six grandchildren and also the following brothers and sisters: Charles, Myron, Arch and Clyde Potts; Mrs. Anna Benham and Mrs. Myrtle Edmunds, all of Taylorville; Mrs. Luella Alexander of Palmer; A. A. Potts, Olathe, Kans and J. C. Potts, Mercedes, Tex.
The body was brought to the home of H. L. Potts, Taylorville. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 13 at the Sharpsburg Universalist church. The I.O.O.F. will have charge of the grave.
