DEMPSEY Paul Thomas, 77, of Laramie, Wyoming, formerly of Lighthouse Point, Florida died on January 20th, 2000. He was born in Morristown, New Jersey, on April 3rd, 1922. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 30 years. He had a distinguished military career during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Cluster, Air Medal with Clusters, and the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Doris L. of Laramie, Wyoming; his daughter, Kathleen D. Wies of Demorest, Georgia, and his sister. Eileen D. Stirone of Margate, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on January 29th, 2000 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Margate, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Babe Ruth League, Incorporated, 1770 Brunswick Avenue, P.O. Box 5000, Trenton, New Jersey, 08638.

Paul Thomas Dempsey, 77, formerly of Morristown, New Jersey -- Laramie, Wyoming -- Paul Thomas Dempsey died Jan. 20 at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 77. Born in Morristown, New Jersey, he moved to Laramie, Wyoming several years ago. Mr. Dempsey worked at the Postal Service from 1947 until his retirement in 1977. He then worked at Florida Coast Bank. He was a technical sergeant and gunner in World War II and a gunnery instructor during the Korean War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Cluster, the Air Medal with Clusters and the Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 59, served as a member of the Morristown Board of Fire Wardens for 55 years and was named the Morristown Recreation Commission Man of the Year in 1967. Among his contributions to the community are involvement in Babe Ruth baseball, Defenders Drum and Bugle Corps, the Veterans and Memorial Day Committees and as chairman of the Morris County, New Jersey Bicentennial Committee. Survivors include his wife, Doris L.; a daughter, Kathleen D. Wies of Demorest, Georgia; and a sister, Eileen D. Stirone of Margate, Florida. Arrangements are by Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Avenue, Morristown, New Jersey.
