He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 30 years. He had a distinguished military career during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Cluster, Air Medal with Clusters, and the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Doris L. of Laramie, Wyoming; his daughter, Kathleen D. Wies of Demorest, Georgia, and his sister. Eileen D. Stirone of Margate, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on January 29th, 2000 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Margate, Florida. He was a member of American Legion Post 59, served as a member of the Morristown Board of Fire Wardens for 55 years and was named the Morristown Recreation Commission Man of the Year in 1967. Among his contributions to the community are involvement in Babe Ruth baseball, Defenders Drum and Bugle Corps, the Veterans and Memorial Day Committees and as chairman of the Morris County, New Jersey Bicentennial Committee.
