LONG-TIME RESIDENT DIES THURSDAY
Funeral services for John A. Shaw, 84, were held on Sunday afternoon from the Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. John R. Scott, of the Gladwin Methodist church, officiated and burial was made in the Ridge cemetery. His grandparents acted as pallbearers. Mr. Shaw was born in Ontario, Canada, on November 4, 1868, and was a resident in and around Gladwin for 70 years. On June 30, 1897, he married Rose Wilson in Gladwin. She died in 1938.
Mrs. Shaw was a patient at the Dubey Nursing Home for the past 6 1/2 months, where he passed away on Thursday, August 13. Surviving are six sons, William of Gladwin, Clarence, Ray and Clayton, of Flint, Waldo of Lansing and John of Wolverine; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bennett, Mrs. Edith Pero, both of Gladwin,and Mrs. Mary Nelson of Flint; 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Three sons and one daughter preceded him in death.
