She attended Fame Elementary and graduated from Stidham High School at the age of 16 as class Salutatorian. She attended Connors State College and graduated from Northeaster State University in Tahlequah with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Kathleen was introduced to Lloyd J. "LJ" Dobson at an ice cream social. They were married on July 27, 1944 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. They shared 53 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Kathleen worked as a school teacher and as LJ's business partner. Together they owned and operated LJ's Service Stations, Ted's Station, Dobson's Gas Mart and Dobson's I-40 Gas Mart; a registered Herford cattle ranch; and the Ford dealership in Checotah. Christmas was her favorite holiday because it commemorates the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and for the many precious family holiday memories. Her favorite food was ice cream and her favorite song was "Amazing Grace.
Kathleen was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame on the occasion of her 100th birthday celebration. At that time she shared these words of wisdom with us from Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."
