Lavaughn Huff a resident of Roswell, NM for 58 years passed into the arms of Jesus on February 14, 2020.

Born, August 30, 1931 on the farm in the grassy hill country of Fame, Oklahoma, Lavaughn loved the farm of her youth.

Lavaughn married her high school sweetheart, Hubert (Bill) Huff in 1953. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in December of 2019.

Lavaughn followed her sisters and graduated from Northeastern State College. After graduation she taught school in Oklahoma and Kansas. In 1962 the couple moved to Roswell where she taught elementary school for 24 years. Lavaughn loved teaching and was always excited about molding the minds of the young children she taught.

After retiring in 1987 she and Bill traveled to learn of their roots. They spent time looking through old marriage records and birth certificates. When at home you could find her outdoors on her trusty riding lawn mower or helping Bill build a house or two.

Lavaughn was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and the highlight of her week was to attend church and work with the ladies in the WMU especially making Christmas boxes to send overseas and infant layettes for the babies at the hospital.

Lavaughn loved her family and spent hours reading to and teaching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the old poems and songs of her youth.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Golda Turner, two sisters, Roberta Williams and Geneva Marks, one brother, Jack Houston Turner and one grandson, Jesse Don Ferguson.

Lavaughn is survived by her husband Hubert (Bill) L. Huff and two children Rhetta Huff Ferguson and Hugh Jon (Buddy) Huff, Two grandchildren Rachel N. Ferguson and fiance Dominic Good and Jon Marc Huff and wife Tracy Young Huff, three great grandchildren, SeCiliah Ferguson and Trinity Ferguson and Connor Ferguson and their mother Tina Ferguson, four sisters, Kathleen Dobson, Mary Jo Richards, Reba Robinson and Judy Freeman and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice, especially Lavaughn’s nurse, Glynn Shelton and Stacy Maxwell and her Caregiver, June Rivas.

There will be a viewing at LaGrone Funeral Home from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday, February, 18, 2020. Services will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. R.L. Richards (nephew) officiating.
