SARAH DRIVER
Mrs. Sarah B. Gay Driver, a county resident since 1916, died Wednesday around noon at the Waurika Hospital. She had been hospitalized since the preceding Sunday after suffering a heart attack.
Funerala services will be conducted Friday Afternoon, Sept 11 at two o'clock from the First Baptist Church with the pastor the Rev. Leonard Sullivan as officiant. Burial well bi in the Waurika Cemetery under direction of Worley Funeral Home. Casket bearers are Walter Welch, George Farmer, Pete Stewart, Gene Phelps, Roy Wirt and Arch Reynolds.
Mrs Driver was born June 26, 1887 in Tenaha, Texas. She moved to this county in 1916 with her Late husband Bert Gay whom she married in 1905. Ten children, five sons and five daughters, were born to this union.
Mr. Gay died in 1945 and on Jan 8, 1953 Mrs. Gay was married to Joe H. Driver in Waurika where she continued to make her home.
Survivors other than her husband are five daughters, Mrs Archie Wirt, Mrs. Jim Welch of Waurika, Mrs. W. B. McBee of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Luther Beilue of Santa Rita, New Mexico, and Mrs. R. E. Dugan of Weatherford, Texas; three sons, Grover Gay of Waurika, Henry Gay of Corcoran, Calif., and Edward Gay of Dennison, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Lucie Priester of Houston; one brother J. W. Phillips of Dallas; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and four stepchildren; Mrs. Cecil Wood, andRudolph Driver, both of Waurika, Lee Driver of Easton Wash. and Gordon Driver of Walla Walla Wash.
