James was the son of Robert L. Williams and his first wife Mattie Jane Waddell. Robert and Mattie married 30 DEC 1892. Mattie passed away in 1907 when Vinnie was 13 years old.
James was a veteran of WWI, serving from 17 APR 1918 to 16 AUG 1919.
James married Vera Belle Clark on February 7, 1925, in Woodward, Oklahoma. They had these children: Joy Lester (1925-1966) & Clark (1932-2010).
~~OBITUARY~~
Yountville: James L. Williams, 82, died Sunday at the Veterans Home.
Mr. Williams was born in Tishomingo, Okla, and moved to Texas as a young man. He joined the U.S. Army in Waco, Tex., settled in Modesto and was employed as a stock breeder and rancher in the Modesto area. In 1975 he came to the Veterans Home.
Survivors include a son Joe W. Williams of Modesto.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 1 pm. Thursday at the Memorial Chapel at the Veterans Home. Interment will be in Monument Park in Woodland. Services are under the direction of Richard Pierce Funeral Service.
