Charles William Hyde, son of Hollis and Nellie Smith Hyde, was born January 16, 1924, in Scotland County, Missouri, and passed away March 15, 1977, in the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital, Kirksville, Missouri. He was a lifetime resident of the Brock community, a farmer and had operated the Brock Station for several years. On February 16, 1944, he was united in marriage to Donna Selby. To this union two sons were born, Jerry and Roy. He is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons, Jerry of Independence, Missouri, and Roy of Memphis; two daughters-in-law, Joyce and Donna; one grandson; six granddaughters; ten brothers and sisters, Genevieve Ridge of Marina, California, Mary Drummond of Conway, Missouri, Ruth Moore of Keokuk, Iowa, Carol Bundy of Oak Grove, Missouri, Delbert Hyde of Independence, Missouri, Phil Hyde of Conway, Missouri, Virginia Bertram of Gorin, Missouri, Nelda Boatman of Wayland, Missouri, Barbara Hughes of La Plate, Missouri, and Leland Hyde of Memphis, Missouri; two aunts, two uncles, several nieces and nephews. He was a kind and helpful man to the community and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister. Funeral services were held at the Brock United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Neil Dubach officiating. Music was provided by Kenneth Campbell and Mrs. Ann Luther. Pallbearers were Dean Simerl, Oscar Mankopf, Robert W. Shelley, Leroy Morgan, Jon Humphrey and Kenneth Eggleston. Honorary bearers were Harry Nicloi, Austin Eggleston, Harold Davis, and Chan Bull. Interment was in the Brock Cemetery.
