Ruth Ellen Moore, daughter of Hollis and Nellie Smith Hyde, was born September 13, 1933 in Memphis, Missouri and departed this life May 14, 2014 in Montrose, Iowa at the age of eighty years.

She made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and at the time of her passing was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Ruth attended and graduated from Memphis High School in 1952. She made friends easily and kept in contact with many of them through the years.

On July 22, 1956 she was united in marriage with Robert (Bob) R. Moore who survives. In 1957 Bob and Ruth moved from Memphis, Missouri to Keokuk, Iowa where they raised their two daughters. Ruth was a hard worker. She worked at Ben Franklin store in Memphis, Missouri and H & L Green and Irwin Phillips in Keokuk, Iowa. Those who had the pleasure of working with her though the years appreciated her strong work ethic and attention to detail.

When she wasn't working, she enjoyed several hobbies. Ruth loved traveling to casinos, bowling, playing Bingo and attending the Hyde family reunions. She was a member of the Women's Bowling Association. Any time she could spend with her family was the most important to her. She treasured each of them.

She is survived by her husband Bob; one daughter Melody Stepp and her boyfriend Gary Twitchell of Keokuk, Iowa; grandson Ryan Moore and his wife Jerrie; two great-granddaughters Kaitlyn and Rachel; one brother Leland Hyde and his wife Dolores of Memphis, Missouri; four sisters: Carol Bundy and her husband Don of Blue Springs, MO; Virginia Bertram and her husband Fred of Gorin, MO; Nelda Boatman and her husband Asie of Kahoka, MO; Barbara Hughes and her husband Norman of Kirksville, MO; sister-in-law Margaret Hyde of Independence, MO; Kathy Hyde of Conway, MO; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Tammy Moore; three brothers: Charles, Phil and Delbert Hyde; three sisters: Evelyn Gatlin, Gennie Ridge and Mary Drummonds; son-in-law Rick Stepp; two brothers-in-law, Bill and Don Moore.

Ruth was a loving wife, mother and caring grandmother, and a cherished and loyal friend. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her through the years will treasure every memory. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 10 am, Monday, May 19, 2014, at the DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street, with Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, Missouri.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 3 to 8 pm, with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 pm at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street.
