Brewster

Aaron E. "Pete" Davis, 84, a longtime resident of Brewster, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the Whispering Fir Adult Care Center at Brewster.

He was born July 14, 1917, the son of Elzie and Nettie (Bell) Davis at Wynne Wood, OK. Pete attended schools at Mauldin and Satterwhite, OK.

On Oct. 9, 1937, he married Gertrude Smith at Paul's Valley, OK. They moved from Oklahoma in 1941, to Manson, returning to Oklahoma in 1942, then moving back to Manson in 1943, where he was employed in the fruit industry.

In 1947, they moved to the Tri Cities, where he was employed in construction at Hanford Works after which he worked on the Grand Coulee Dam and the Chief Joseph Dam and in 1950, they moved to the Bridgeport Bar. For several years, Pete continued to work in construction including the Alaskan Pipeline.

They owned and operated their orchard on Bridgeport Bar. From 1964 to 1970, Pete owned and operated Rocky Butte Service Station.

Pete and Gertrude were members of the Denim Gingham Square Dance Club for many years, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 302, the Brewster Grange and the Brewster Senior Center.

Pete is survived by his wife, Gertrude of Brewster; his children, Glynn Davis of Waitsburg; Janet Shrable of East Wenatchee; Aaron (Gary) Davis of Portland, OR; Debra La Moreaux of Brewster; his brothers and sisters, Ollie Moon of Wenatchee; Linnie Erdle of Marysville; Marvin "Dude" Davis of Manson; Elzie Davis Jr. and Hollis Davis, both of Warren, OK; his seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside Services will be conducted Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. at the Fraternal Cemetery in Chelan. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Barnes Chapel, Brewster with Donn Plew officiating.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Barnes Chapel, Brewster.

Memorials may be made to the Brewster Senior Center or to the Brewster Community Log Church.

Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
