Henry was born in Mayfield (now a neighborhood of Palo Alto), Santa Clara County, California. He first, for some surprising and unexplained reason after the San Francisco earthquake in 1906, went up to Olympia, Washington and became the second husband of Mary (Forrester) Gaisford on 9 Dec 1908. He had returned to Mayfield by 1911 and Mary remarried again and died San Francisco in 1914. He then married Maude Stebbins in San Luis Obispo, California on 26 Nov 1914. They had 2 children, Francis (b. 1915) and Eleanor (b. 1925).
When I met and visited with his son Francis in 2009 I asked if he knew about his father's first marriage. Francis said no, he'd not heard a thing about it.
